Rim Choices
35mm vs 50mm
The Maker Carbon Disc comes in 35mm or 50mm depths. The shallower rims are lighter, more responsive and less susceptible to crosswinds. The deeper, more aerodynamic rims are heavier, but faster when speeds hit 40kph+. Not sure what’s right for you? Get in touch or go for the mullet.
SL vs AR
The SuperLight and AR rims share the same specs, but the SL uses a different type of carbon fiber and a more labor-intensive layup. The result is the lightest possible rim which doesn’t give up performance or our legendary durability. Which should you choose? It’s a simple cost-vs-weight tradeoff. Note that the SL rim is not recommended for riders over 80kg.

Tubeless Ready
These rims have a wide 22mm bead-width which allows installation of any tyre from 25mm. It is tubeless-ready to work with the latest generation of tubeless road tyres and has been painstakingly designed to be as easy as possible to install these occasionally tight-fitting tyres. Matched to the tubeless design is a hooked bead which allows the use of non-tubeless tyres and to provide uncompromised safety.
As a reference, a Continental GP5000TL 28mm tubeless tyre (our staff favourite) measures 29mm on these rims. Run these at 75psi front / 80psi rear for a simply amazing ride with great comfort and incredible cornering grip.
Our attention to detail extends to the tubeless valves: serrated lockrings make them easy to fit or remove and integrated wrench-flats are provided for removing super-tight valves. The valve cores are removable for easy cleaning or for assistance if installing a difficult tubeless tyre. The inner section of the valve is optimised for our rims ensuring an easy air-tight fit.
Easy Tyre Installation
It’s no secret that tyres have become harder to install onto wheels over the past few years. This is primarily due to tubeless tyres: rim manufactures have made their rims larger to reduce blow-offs and tyre companies have made their tyres smaller for the same reason. The result is small tyres on big rims often lead to sore thumbs and money in the swear jar.
The Maker is different: We’ve got the lowest sidewall height of any rim we’ve tested and one of the deepest internal gutters and the result is that a pair of Continental GP5000 tubeless tyres will go on either by hand or with minimal force. You’re welcome.

E-Bike Ready
Our AR rims are ready for the latest generation of e-road bikes like the Specialized Turbo Creo. The extra power and speed of an ebike is no problem for the incredible stability and durability of the AR.
