Jarrod’s fully-polished road wheels
These are, to my eyes, the nicest looking pair of wheels I’ve built.
Rims are Kinlin XR-270′s. The front wheel is laced 20h radial to an Alchemy ELF, the rear is 24h triplet to a Ligero SLW. Spokes and nipples from from Sapim in Belgium. Everything is polished silver with some white decals on the rims and hubs and the wheels look just stunning.
Beautiful, just beautiful.

I have now done about 1500km on these wheels and I am delighted with them. They are my dry weather wheels so they will hopefully see a lot more use now summer has arrived. However because of the rain and swapping back to my old wheels (32 spoke mavic open pros) regularly I have been able to compare the wheelsets thoroughly. The difference is astounding. I do a 85km bunch ride every Saturday with a group of 20-30 riders. On my old wheels I arrive at the top of the main climbs mid field. On the new wheels only a few climb faster. And in the last quarter of the ride my legs are not nearly as fatigued with the new wheels on. Down hill on the old wheels freewheeling I am overtaken by Fulcrum’s and Mavic’s. On my new wheels I do the overtaking and just roll away. I have been riding a Reynolds 853 steel frame and with these wheels I can match riders on $15000 carbon bikes. But not on my old wheels. It just goes to show how much the feel and performance of a bike is about the wheels rather than the frame. I am currently building a new bike having just purchased a Time frame. It will be very interesting to see how these wheels perform on a comtemporary thoroughbred.
These wheels are light, stiff and fast. End of story. And for no extra charge they are far more durable and beautiful than what most of my mates are riding.
Thanks Tristan.
Ps. And being polished they are easy to clean.
