Wheelworks Flite01 handbuilt wheelset

In a world of propriety spokes, decreasing lifespans and increasing service costs the Wheelworks Flite01 comes as a breath of fresh air.

Commute to work mid-week, train Saturday and race Sunday.  This versatile wheelset combines the durability to log trouble-free kilometers and a low weight and excellent lateral stiffness to out-perform other wheelsets.

23mm wide rims offer incredible ride quality.  Swiss-made hubs provide smooth, long-lasting bearings.  Each pair is handbuilt in by Wheelworks in Lyall Bay and comes with a three year guarantee against broken spokes.

To match the lateral stiffness and ride quality of this wheelset to the rider it is offered in three variants

65 to 75kg Focused on riders as light as 65 kg, this model reduces weight to provide a lively, responsive wheelset for lighter riders while keeping industry-leading durability. 1470 grams

75 to 85kg A careful selection of rims and spokes balances the needs of middle-weight riders while keeping the wheels lighter than most race sets. 1490 grams

85 to 95kg Heavier, more powerful riders need more lateral stiffness. This model features a stiffer rear and different spoke selection to optimize the ride quality while keeping the wheelset weight lower than many brand’s ultra-light wheels. 1535 grams

Man, these wheels corner.  They just corner.  Even with my old worn out GP4000s on them they roll so nice while cornering and descending.  I can throw them into corners and they just hold on and give no hint of losing traction.   I think I scared a few people who tried to follow my lines off Blue Mountains on the weekend.

I can’t wait for some decent weather so I can really smash it downhill but right away uphill is noticeably different as is going over potholes and bumps on the road – a much smoother ride with clear gains on the hills.  I was thinking last night while trying to get my breath back that it’s like all the best things on my bike have been magnified and all the worst things lifted off.
